I believe that deep within the places that scare us, hiding in the things we don’t like about ourselves and try to avoid, or underneath the grief we bury deep in our hearts because we don’t want to feel it – in all of these things lies our spirit, our true self, the thread of gold in the darkness.
It is courageous to walk into these places and sit with whatever arises. My purpose with this work of “therapy” is to be there with you, to help you see that you are already whole.
Using the framework of “getting to know” different “parts” of your personality, we can begin to hear the perspective they have and understand why they hold on so tightly to a certain way of being. We will work to bring compassion to all rejected and isolated parts of self. And we will establish a ground- a place of calm and safety that resides within you, that you can draw from always.
I have found that implementing tools such as neurofeedback, grounding exercises, EMDR and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) can help to balance one’s nervous system and guide the brain and body to process and release old trauma. These therapies utilize a more “bottom-up” brain approach, getting us below the level of the thinking brain and allowing for deeper healing.
